This is Becky- our other co-event director
1. When and why did you first choose to volunteer with parkrun?
I first came to parkrun at the end of the Swinton Running Club beginners group (couch to 5k) and soon after the club was doing a volunteer takeover so I decided to marshal. Since then, like many of our volunteers, I got injured and decided that volunteering was a less painful way for me to keep in touch with my old running buddies. I must apologise to all those who have endured me complaining about my sore foot for the past 2 years!
2. Which is your favourite role at parkrun?
I like handing out the tokens as you get to speak to every single runner as they finish (except the naughty funnel duckers!)
3. What would you say to someone who is unsure if volunteering is for them?
There's a volunteer role at parkrun for everyone and the team can help you find something that you will enjoy doing, so just get in touch and have a chat with us.
4. What are you doing when you're not at parkrun?
I work as a speech therapist with adults with learning disabilities and I am lucky enough to be able to say "I love my job". At home I'm happiest when I'm baking or in the garden watering the veg patches.
5. What song would be your parkrun anthem?
I'm not a morning person at all and I need something to wake me up to get down to Dukes Drive for 08:30 on Saturday mornings so it has to be Wake up Boo- The Boo Radleys
